As of today, Mission: Impossible – Fallout has earned $129 million in domestic grosses. That includes a $61.236m debut weekend and a $35.2m second weekend-gross. Yes, the film dipped just 42% in its second Fri-Sun frame, which is remarkable for a film that didn’t open over a long weekend, didn’t have a holiday cushion on the second weekend and wasn’t an animated feature.
It’s a smaller drop than the likes of Black Panther, Wonder Woman and every Bourne movie. While it’s the 624th-smallest second-weekend drop for a movie opening on over 2,500 screens (yay?), the Tom Cruise/Rebecca Ferguson/Henry Cavill sequel is one of the very best holds for any movie opening above $60m in unadjusted grosses. To wit, it stands behind only 23 other wide releases that A) opened on more than 2,500 screens and B) dropped less than 42% on its second weekend.
